Surprised by Branson (Part 1 of 3 Part Series)

I was so excited when my husband decided to plan a family vacation. Our last family vacation was four years ago. My husband’s previous position required him to travel and planning a vacation for more than a weekend was impossible. So when my husband suggested we go on a family vacation this year, I was beyond excited! Family vacation 2015 was in full effect until he told me where we were traveling too.

Insert the word “Branson” (eye-rolling), I know Branson –right? Branson is one of the biggest country capitals in the United States. My expectations were set very low. What could we possibly do in Branson? I went along with his plans, because I trust my husband. But secretly I was upset.

Day One:

We arrived tired from the long drive to Branson, so we relaxed in the condominium for a bit and unpacked. After relaxing, we decided to go out for dinner at Starving Marvin’s restaurant. Starving Marvin’s is an all you can eat buffet which included country favorites like freshly fried catfish, mash potatoes & gravy, rolls, and seafood. It was delicious – *insert drool as you gaze upon the photo below* (It was also the first time I tried frog legs – taste like chicken).

That evening we went to the beautiful Sight and Sound Theatre to see Jonah. The theatre strives to bring the stories from the bible to life. The performance of Jonah was amazing! The special effects were phenomenal, the singing was great, and the stage was literally surrounds the audience putting you right in the middle of all the action.

The show ended on an absolute high note! Outside of the show, I was most impressed after the show ended. One of the actresses from the show came from behind the curtain and said, “We hope that you enjoyed the show of Jonah. If you need any services or just someone to pray with, we are here to do so”.

No cameras were allowed in the theatre for copyright infringement. But my family and I took pictures before the show. I included a video from their website to give you a better idea of what the show entailed. I loved the show so much, I plan on attending next year’s showing of Moses.
