It’s a New Year – Be yourself

This is my first post of the New Year, resolutions are usually made by this time. But nine times out of ten they are broken. I decided not to have a resolution, but when I found this quote it simply touched me. Be yourself! Have you ever had moments in your life when you felt as if you needed to change something about you? For instance, you changed your normal voice to make someone else feel careful? Or perhaps you know you are smarter than your boss and could do his/her job with your eyes close, but you simply allow them to think they are smarter. I know I’ve been in jobs where I am extremely frustrated, because I know this job is not my purpose. It feels like trying to swim against strong waves. Drowning is inevitable.

“Be yourself! There is something that you can do better than any other. Listen to the inward voice and bravely obey that.” – Unknown. According to Matthew 25: 14-30 “For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master’s money.”

What talents do you posse but are not using? A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to speak at a school to a 2nd grade class. I was so nervous, kids can be so honest.  I prayed the kids would not throw pencils and crayons at me. The kids were so engaged and they loved my presentation, I felt so relieved. That was until the lady after me spoke, I was completely engaged. She begin her presentation telling the class that she was a business owner. She spoke about her talents and then she gave a simple, yet impactful quote. She asked the class to say, “I have a special gift inside of me that I can use to make money. My purpose in life is to find that God-given talent and use it to make money”. Simple right?

Her presentation spoke to me, my goal this year is to discover my gifts. I plan to listen to the inward voice (God) and bravely allow myself to follow it. Do you have unused gifts? Did you know you can use those to make money?

Leave me a comment and let me know what gifts you have that you can use to make money.
