Have you heard of Slim Chickens? Slim Chickens opened in the Kansas City (Independence) area last year. I’ve drove by their restaurant several times on my way to eat at Cheddar’s. One day on my way to eat at Cheddar’s I noticed that it was packed, and as much as I would love to wait twenty minutes to taste those honey butter croissants. It can be quite challenging with hungry children waiting.
So I decided to give Slim Chickens a try and avoid the long wait at Cheddar’s. The restaurants exterior was that of a modern backyard shack; but the interior is clean, bring, fresh and the tunes will have you swaying in the bayou. The company is prides itself on serving freshly made food, all of their food is served up fresh daily besides the french fries which are frozen. Upon entry you are immediately greeted by a friendly face as you stare *while* drooling at the menu. Should I order the chicken wings, the tenders, salad, or chicken & waffles? I finally made a decision to order a little bit of everything. *Inserting the No Judgement Zone*
The chicken and waffles were amazing! The waffles were light and fluffy, while the chicken tenders were seasoned to crispy perfection. The chicken and waffles were so good, I went back the following weekend. Again, lets keep in mind this is a “no” judgement free zone.
The spicy barbecue and hot wings are just as soon if not better than some of their surrounding wing joints like Buffalo Wild Wings, Hooters, or Wing Stop. One thing that the other wing joints wont have is Slim Chickens seriously addictive “Cajun ranch” dipping sauce. Down these wings with a cold one and you are living the life.
The macaroni and cheese isn’t out of the box or tastes chalky like the majority. The macaroni and cheese is freshly made with creamy, cheesy goodness like made it yourself. *If you can cook Mac & Cheese – hence everyone cant* If you happen to be one of those, don’t worry just order a extra large order of this macaroni & cheese. When you get home put it in a baking dish and boom! You’re golden.

How are the prices?
They are very slightly higher than most fast food restaurants. But it’s worth it, the food quality and taste are amazing. Try it out and let me know what you think.
