National Thrift Day was Awesome, And here’s why…

I am a lover of holiday’s, so when I discovered there was a National Thrift Day (August 18th), I nearly jumped for joy. I am an avid thrifter, as a matter of fact, more than 90% of my wardrobe is from the thrift store. Thrifting has always been a part of my life. It all started with my grandmother’s love of junking. Junking is an “old-school” term for thrifting.

I celebrated the holiday by partnering with Savers on the #Igiveashirt campaign. Savers challenged people to leave their clothing footprint in the world. They are challenging everyone to help save the environment and over 700 million gallons of through one simple act: Make your next T-shirt a thrifted one. Can you believe that landfills are not only filled with trash but lots of clothing as well? You can help out by donating your clothing at Savers rather than throwing them away.

I invited a few of my favorite bloggers to help celebrate #Igiveashirt day with me, and they did not disappoint. These amazing women found great new and gently used items to support the cause. I created cute thrift snack bags to help curb hunger as they shopped as well. Want to pack the perfect snacks for thrifting? Try these items to help curb hunger as you shop: apples, granola bars, cheese sticks, bottle water, and a small bag of chips.

My love of thrifting also began with my grandma but she called it antiquing but it was the same thing. I also live in KC and Savers is one of my favorites. Nothing thrills me more than dropping off a load of donations, getting my 30% off coupon and then going inside to use it. Glad I found you
