How to Rock a Romper on a Budget

I believe we set a record in Kansas City last week; when it was consistently 100+ degrees almost every day. With the weather being so hot, I barely wanted to walk outside without feeling like I was going to melt. It’s been very hard to pick out clothing in this sweltering heat, so on a recent thrifting trip to my local thrift store. I found a simple yet chic Jennifer Lopez romper for under $6.00 with the $72.00 tag on it.

I admit I was not a fan of rompers. They remind me of onesies for adults in a way. I folded to the idea of wearing this trend, then decided to give a the romper movement a try. As I was in the dressing room stepping into my romper, I was unamused. Sigh.. But it was only after I zipped it up was when I fell in love.

Since I am officially a Romper girl, I wanted to share ways that you can “Rock a Romper” on a budget.

1. Rompers are a fashion trend, so don’t bother spending a lot of money on one. If you choose to shop at a department store – always, always, always, find one on sale. There’s no need in spending a lot of money on something you don’t love. – Psst.. Old Navy have tons of rompers on sale right now.

2. If you are uncertain if a printed romper is for you, be sure to stick with a solid color. Plus solids color rompers tend to be less expensive than the printed.
3. Visit your local Goodwill, Thrift Stores, or Consignment stores to find this recurring trend for the low.

4. Inexpensive accessories can change your romper look for Eeekk to Chic in no time. Start off with the basics – layered up necklaces or bracelets. Find vintage earrings or simple hoops. You can also find a gorgeous clutch that will set off the look as well.
5. Thrift Stores are notorious for having amazing vintage jewelry for affordable prices. Plus, you don’t have to worry about wearing the same style trends as everyone else. Dare to be different and watch the compliments flood in when you sport the oldies but goodies.

I’ve always been wary about rompers. Like you said, they seem like onesies for adults! But you definitely made this one look stylish! I think my biggest gripe with them is that you have to peel the entire outfit off to use the bathroom!

  9. August 3, 2016 / 12:12 pm

This romper does look fabulous on you! I haven’t worn one in over twenty years. Not sure I could get away with it like you can.
