FPKC Fab Feature Friday – Fabellis

This week I am featuring Ashley the Editor and Creator of Fabellis as my Fab Feature Friday. Ashley is the fashion maven and natural hair guru. I followed Ashley’s blog for quite some time. I fell in love with her affordable fashion sense. She is also a avid thrifter like myself  and well sought after in the natural hair arena as well. Her goal is to help all women “look fabellis on a budget”. With that being said, I present to you Ashley of Fabellis.

1) What inspired you to blog?

Before I began blogging in 2010, I had no idea what a blog was.  I was passionate about beauty and fashion so a good friend of mine suggested I start a blog.  I decided to do some research and one of the first blogs, I found was GabiFresh.  I loved her style and what her blog entailed.  Since I was a writer and was having trouble finding a job in my field, I felt this would be the perfect outlet for me.

2) What’s the story behind your blog name?

My blog name is a combination of the word fabulous and my former last name, Ellis.  Together, it creates FabEllis.

3) What is your best hair care secret? (If Hair blog)

If you have natural hair, I would definitely say the LOC (liquid, oil & cream) method.  A lot of naturalistas have issues maintaining moisture with their hair and this method helps the hair better retain moisture and softness.  Here is an article on the LOC method:  http://www.fabellis.com/2013/01/natural-hair-loc-method.html

What is your secret to no-fail outfit in a short period of time? (if you are a fashion blog)

Jeans, heels, shirt and a blazer!

What is your favorite/no fail makeup tip? (if you blog about beauty)

BB Cream!  A lot of women do not have time to apply a full face of makeup.  My daily routine is BB cream, powder, blush and mascara.  Quick, easy and flawless!

Why do you thrift?

I began thrifting in high school because my mom often sold her clothing through a local consignment shop.  At the time, I read magazines often and I would see some of the recent styles were available at the thrift or consignment stores.  It didn’t take me long to realize that styles come back around all the time!  Also, thrifting sometimes allows you to rock unique, one of a kind pieces that you will not see on anyone else.

4) What’s something about yourself you can share with my reader’s?

I am passionate about helping other women dress well.  I know that when you look good, you feel good on the inside.  Every woman deserves to feel that no matter what your income is.
