5 Thrift tips to have you thrifitng like a “BOSS”

I’ve been asked this question over and over, “How do you find amazing items at the thrift store?” Thrifiting is not hard, but there are a few tips that can help you if you’re new to the game. I created tips to have you thrifting like a boss as a guide to newbies at this thrift game.

Tip #1 – The Look Through

  • If you are new to thrifting its best to have a plan. Go to your closet, look to see what items you need – solid staple pieces you can no longer fit or trends you are wanting to try. For example: The color of the year is baby pink and sky blue – thrifting these color trends are cheaper than paying retail prices on something you may not wear more than a few times.

Tip #2 – The List

  • Now that you’ve looked through your closet, write down a small list of items to thrift (no more than five). Limiting it to five items makes more manageable far less stressful. We all have things to stress about in life – clothing shouldn’t be one of them.

Tip #3 – The Now What

  • YAY! Congrats on making your list! Now what!?! Identify local thrift stores in your area, don’t be afraid to drive round thrift stores in affluent neighborhoods could yield high end items at super low price. But don’t assume you can’t find quality at your local thrift stores as well – this is a huge misconception.

Tip #4 – I’m Actually Going Through with This

  • You pulled up to the store, but you have no idea where to begin. Don’t fret! You have the list remember, so you can go directly to the desired areas (women’s or men’s tops, pants, skirts and coats). Thrift stores have evolved so there is no more clutter. You can now walk directly to the desired area you want to shop in.

Tip #5 – Mission Accomplished

  • Now that you have found some amazing deals you are feeling yourself right? Ok, well now it gets fun!! Now that you found what you “need” feel free to look for items you “want”! By now the stress has oozed away and you can have fun popping extra tags.
These thrift tips will allow you to cruise the isles thrifting like a boss and ultimately have you leaving the thrift stores with amazing finds. I use to be very anti-thrift. I couldn’t stand the dusty smell or the rows and rows of items. I finally gave it another try with a very organized store and now I’m hooked. It does require a lot of patience.

Great tips, growing up thrifting was my weekend habit. I became such a pro, I got a better thrill then going to the store and shopping for new clothes.

Going outside of my neighborhood was a hit especially because I was doing beauty pageants back then.

I agree with the list, that is how I am when I go shopping in general. I go in knowing what I want and I leave. I feel shopping should be enjoyable and not stressful.

I am waiting for a girl’s trip to thrift together. We’ve already ate chocolates and pizza together. Lol I never thought to make a list, but honestly that’s a key thing for me since I get overwhelmed and obsessed with using my plastic. #prayforme
